Samsuri women are the women from China who came to Singapore in the construction field in 1920s-1940s (the immigration to Singapore from China is illegal in 1949). They carried tons of bricks all the way and constructed the buildings. They worked long hours and have little meals. They inspired me. They didn't complain despite their sufferings and loss of their small parts ie fingers. They worked very hard and sent their hometowns their money. I full appreciate their early contributions to Singapore.
